Welcome back to our 10-block series! Today, I am incredibly excited to introduce Block 3, and it might just be my favorite one yet. Meet the Tulip Star.
When I was designing the pattern for this block, I wanted something that felt both classic and fresh. The geometric structure relies on a traditional 3x3 grid, but the magic happens in the details. By combining sharp star points in the center with cleverly pieced corners, the block beautifully mimics the look of blooming tulips bursting into sight.
Capturing Nature in Fabric
If you take a look at the design, the fabric placement tells a beautiful botanical story. The rich red and purple tones in the corners perfectly capture the depth of vibrant flower petals opening up to the sun. To balance that warmth, the crisp mint green and deep teal star points extend outward like sharp leaves and stems. It is the perfect blend of a traditional star block and a soft, organic floral motif.
