✂️ Radiant Cross Quilt Block — Free Pattern & Tutorial

Updated: Nov 1

I’ve been having so much fun with this block lately — a little burst of color and symmetry that instantly brightens any quilt! This design combines bold reds and warm golds with calm neutrals, creating a sense of balance and depth. It’s a block that looks intricate, but once you start sewing, you’ll realize how simple and rhythmic the process feels.

🌿 About the Block

This pattern finishes at 13″ square and is built from easy strip-pieced units and diagonal cuts — no tricky seams! Each section flows smoothly into the next, giving that wonderful “woven” effect in the center.

It’s one of those blocks that looks completely different depending on your color choices. Try earthy tones for a rustic look, or swap in blues and greens for something fresh and coastal. I think it would make a stunning full quilt with alternating light background squares to let the design breathe.

🪡 Tips for Success

  • Maintain a consistent ¼″ seam; precision is key for this block.

Once you cut the unit diagonally, you’ll be sewing on the bias. Handle the fabric gently and avoid stretching.
