Looking for a fun, dynamic block to add movement and texture to your next quilt?Let me introduce you to the Dancing Mountain block — a striking design built from simple half square triangle. It may look intricate, but it comes together beautifully with just a few steps, making it a great project for confident beginners and seasoned quilters alike.

This block finishes at 11 inches, and it’s perfect for scrap-busting or playing with contrast using your favorite fabric combinations. A dark background helps the “mountain” shapes pop, but feel free to switch it up and make it truly your own!

🧵 About the Design
This block is my own variation of the classic Delectable Mountain. It adds a lot of visual interest to a quilt and, although it may look complex, it’s surprisingly easy to make.
Since this block uses the “sew and slice” method, accuracy is important. This slotted ruler is my go-to—it’s fast, accurate, and such a time-saver.
