Let’s be honest—curved seams can be a little tricky. Even after years of sewing, I still find them a bit challenging. They’re definitely doable with some practice and patience, but they’re not the easy techniques to master, especially for beginners.
If you’ve ever struggled to get a smooth, perfect curve, you’re not alone. The good news? There’s a gentler, beginner-friendly way to approach curved designs: appliqué!

Instead of piecing the curve with seams, you can turn the edges under and appliqué the shape onto your background fabric. It gives you the same beautiful curved look—without the fuss of pinning, stretching, or easing fabric into place. Plus, you can hand-stitch with invisible or blanket stitch, or use your sewing machine for topstitching, zigzag, or a decorative finish.

I’ve put together a video tutorial and a free downloadable cutting guide for this Mini Wall Hanging—you can choose either the 6" or 9" finished block size.

You’ll learn how to:
✔️ Prep and fold your fabric into curve
✔️ Use glue to hold your shapes in place
✔️ Stitch your curves beautifully—with no piecing needed!
