This free baby quilt pattern is a sweet, little project measuring 40" x 52", perfect for use as a baby quilt, a gift to a loved one, or as a cheerful wall quilt. Its classic patchwork layout combines three main block designs that come together beautifully to create a balanced, vintage-inspired look.

The quilt is built with 6" blocks, and the design uses just three block types:
Yardage estimate

Main Design Block – A lively patchwork block with a diamond-in-a-square center surrounded by flying geese units. It creates movement across the quilt and ties the purple, red, and lavender fabrics together. You will need 15 blocks.

The tutorial is designed to demonstrate a shortcut for creating all the units. Instead of individually cutting and sewing Half Square Triangles, Square-in-a-Square, and Flying Geese—or using templates—this method simplifies the process. It’s easier to manage the bias, ensures perfect sizing, and helps achieve seamless matching. Click here for the tutorial
*I recommend pressing the seam open—it’ll make assembling the block much easier.
